Film, Media, and Performing Arts Faculty Member’s Compositions to Be Performed at Local Venues

Daniel Cooper, who teaches music and music history, will have a number of his compositions performed throughout the fall and winter. Cooper is also a performer, specializing in seven-string bass guitar and performing with various groups. Among the works that will be performed in the coming month are his string quartets “Episode,” “Soca,” and “Herald Square” by the Bleeker Street Quartet at Fordham Lincoln Center; original violin and electronic music composition “Spinning Song” by Tim Fain at Le Poisson Rouge; and his big band composition “Vav Hey Vav” by the the Free Sound Ahn-Somble at the Actors Temple. Cooper’s blues-rock band Barbaric Yawp will play and have a CD-release party at The Bitter End on October 30 at 9 pm; he will perform with the electric guitar ensemble Tilted Axes as part of the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade on October 31; and his jazz nonet Nine Live will play at Goddard Riverside Community Center on November 7.
