The Hand of Fashion Series: Can Impact Be Predicted?

Thursday, March 17, 6 pm
Katie Murphy Amphitheatre

Guest speaker:
Lisa Barratt — RISE Senior Project Manager, Ethical Fashion Initiative

Sustainability is not simply about applying standards, it’s also about assessing the impact of the industry on people and planet. Things like fair labor standards can be verified by audits, while impact assessment can be done through open reporting, transparency, and traceability in the supply chain. Barratt will discuss these issues with Hand of Fashion host Simone Cipriani.

This event is part of the Hand of Fashion, a series of discussions intended to widen the understanding of sustainability in fashion design, enable and encourage sustainable thinking, and  help establish a new normal in the fashion industry. These events are free and open to the public, but an RSVP is requested. For more information, and to register, visit fitnyc.edu/handoffashion. The Hand of Fashion is a sponsored by the schools of Art and Design and Graduate Studies.
