Roberta Elins, president of the United College Employees of Fashion Institute of Technology, was named one of two Higher Education Members of the Year by New York State United Teachers (NYSUT). The awards site notes: “Elins’ commitment to unionism, diversity and dedicated leadership extends to her work with UCE–FIT and her statewide union. She chairs the NYSUT Higher Education Policy Council and is a member of the AFT Program and Policy Council.
