Color Me FIT

Color can affect one’s mood, outlook, and state of mind, but how often do we have the chance to delve into the science behind these facts? Now there is an opportunity for anyone to join FIT for a day of color exploration, to discover the science and emotion of color through the eyes of a color professional, and to learn how color plays a significant role in consumer purchasing decisions and brand management. The Insider’s Guide to Color is a master class being held on July 22 from 9:30 am-4:30 pm with Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute.

The Pantone Color Institute is the world-renowned authority on color and provider of color systems, and it is the entity that establishes the official Color of the Year, which influences everything from makeup and cosmetics products to fashion and other consumer choices. For the first time, Pantone has introduced two shades for 2016, Rose Quartz and Serenity (a rose tone and tranquil blue), as the Pantone Color of the Year.

The master class at FIT will begin with a morning discussion followed by a bus trip to the Pantone Color Institute for a hands-on learning experience guided by Pantone’s color experts. Participants will also take a behind-the-scenes tour, see Pantone researchers, forecasters, and chemists at work, and put their new color skills into practice.
