Donna David’s Work Selected by the American Geographical Society

A hand-drawn map created by Donna David, Communication Design, was recently chosen as a Map of the Week by the American Geographical Society. David created the work titled “Detroit: Industrial Ruins, Temples of Commerce” while on sabbatical this past year. The AGS selected it for its “artistic style, creative freedom, and unique function as a map.” David, a graphic designer who studies maps and mapping, maintains a blog on the subject at MapsEverywhere.net where she detailed the process of creating the Detroit work, which documents her personal experience of the city and her creative explorations.
