The Associated Press published two articles. The first (September 5), received more than 30 pickups, including SacramentoBee.com, Yahoo.com, Washington Post.com, and USNews.com. The second (September 6) received more than 100 pickups, including NYTimes.com, LATimes.com, DailyMail.co.uk, ABCNews.com, and WashingtonPost.com.  Valerie Steele, director, The Museum at FIT (MFIT), took Thom Browne on a 20-minute long tour of MFIT’s newly renovated collections space, which was filmed and posted by Town & Country on their Facebook page (September 8) and has received over 37,000 views to date.

FashionWindows.net (September 7), WWD.com, FashionWeekDaily.com, MyInforms.com (all September 8), PaperBlog.fr (France, September 11), and Vogue.it (Italy, September 12) reported that May 2017 Fashion Design graduate Alyssa Wardrop was the winner of the 10th annual Supima Design Competition.  Wardrop’s collection, “Body as Canvas,” was inspired by 1960s Italian cinema. Seven students from the nation’s top design schools competed by designing collections made from Supima cotton. Wardrop received $10,000 to jumpstart her career and will present her collection during Paris Fashion Week on September 26.

Glossy.com, with pickup on Digiday.com (both September 8), spoke with Joanne Arbuckle, deputy to the president, Industry Partnerships and Collaborative Programs, for an article on how FIT is teaching young designers about launching a new brand in today’s retail environment. The article focused on the Harper’s Bazaar Infor/FIT Fashion Design ICON student contest, which International Trade and Marketing students Kathleen Frey and Sonne Bajwa won for their plan to take design Fashion Design student Brandon Johnson’s winning design from the red carpet to retail. Influencer Olivia Perez wore Johnson’s creation on the red carpet at the ICONS event, held at the Plaza on September 8.  “Just as you see in this competition, we marry creative with the business to make it seamless for these students,” commented Arbuckle.

NYPost.com (September 7) turned to Natalie Nudell, adjunct, History of Art, for an article on the history of New York Fashion Week.

GQ.com (September 11) spoke with Carol Davidson, adjunct, Center for Continuing and Professional Studies, for an article on the right suit to wear for a job interview. “If you pay attention to the details in your appearance and your wardrobe . . . you pay attention to the details in your work,” said Davidson.

WSJ.com (September 7) and The Wall Street Journal (September 10) quoted Patricia Mears, deputy director, MFIT, for an article on the reworking of pioneer and prairie style motifs in current fashions.  “People are searching for the familiar,” said Mears. “You see this in periods of uncertainty.”

Force of Nature, currently on view at MFIT, received feature coverage in New York Lifestyles (September issue).

Expedition: Fashion from the Extreme, which opened at MFIT on September 15, received pre-opening coverage on FT.com (September 8), Financial Times (September 9, not available online), ArtNet.com, 6sqft.com (all September 11), and WWD.com (with a six-image slideshow, September 13).
