FIT is the educational partner of the Chelsea Film Festival, which will take place Thursday, October 19 to Sunday, October 22. The event, now in its fifth year, is an international festival that highlights the work of emerging filmmakers, producers, and actors. As a partner, FIT will host screenings on campus in the Katie Murphy Amphitheatre, in the Pomerantz Center, and in the David Dubinsky Student Center.

FIT students can attend the screenings free of charge by using the promo code CFF2017xFIT at checkout. Students must also show their FIT ID at the door.

On Friday, October 20, a Student in Film panel will be presented by the FIT Film and Media Department. The panel features three FIT student filmmakers, Cliff Benfield, Max Hechtman, and Victoria Rozler, all of whom have films in this year’s festival, and are nominated for the Petite Prix Award, for Best Short Film. The panel will discuss the challenges and advantages of studying filmmaking in the 21st century in New York City, and how the revolution of streaming and disruptive media shape the future of the industry.
