Big Alice Fills the FIT/Infor Design and Tech Lab

You may well be wondering about the giant white dome that has taken over the FIT/Infor Design and Tech Lab. Meet Big Alice, a six-meter photogrammetric scanning studio outfitted with 64 high resolution DSLR cameras that, in the blink of an eye, capture the full dimensions of a person or object for conversion into 3D data that can be used for AR, VR, and 3D printing. The college is using Big Alice to explore applications for bringing an immersive experience to online fashion retail.

Owned and brought to campus by 3DCopySystems, which is headquartered in Austria, Big Alice will reside in the lab until the end of the week.
