Cybersafe Day

April 6, 2017 at 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Cyberattacks, identity theft, and online scams are all over the news lately. Many attacks against institutions like FIT succeed because of something a community member did (clicking on something they shouldn’t) or didn’t do (use a strong password). Join IT for FIT Thursday, April 6, for Cybersafe Day, to learn what you should and shouldn’t do.

FIT Is Cybersafe: Cybersecurity Starts with You
11 am and 1 pm
This one-hour presentation will review the importance of Information Security on college campuses and teach you how you can protect yourself and FIT against cyberthreats. Hear real-world examples of cyberattacks and learn practical, easy methods to protect yourself and your information.

Keeping Your Google Account Safe
3 pm
This one-hour presentation will include some best practices to keep your Google account safe. Including: how to run a security check, turning on two-step verification, and advanced owner settings in Google Drive.

Hands-on demonstrations with IT staff
Throughout the day
Want to learn more? Meet with a member of the IT staff for one-on-one demonstrations on securing your mobile devices, how to recognize suspicious activity on your account, how to hold and release printing, how to clear cached data from your browser, and many other useful practices to keep your information safe.

This event is for the FIT community only.
