FIT Assistant Professor Justine De Young will discuss her new book, Fashion in European Art, with MFIT Director Valerie Steele. Illustrated with a lavish array of images, their conversation will range over topics such as fashion, art, and politics; the controversy surrounding mannequins and monkeys; and sexual identity in men’s portraiture. You will never look at paintings like Seurat’s A Sunday on La Grande Jatte the same way again. A book signing will follow the conversation.

All Fashion Culture events are free, but registration is required; register online here, call (212) 217-4585, or email [email protected].
