Liberal Arts Dean’s Forum: Dan Cooper Chamber Music Ensemble

Dan Cooper, who teaches music and music history in the Film, Media, and Performing Arts Department, will present a colloquium-concert of his distinctive compositions, including “Bowery,” “Design,” “El Planeta Rojo,” “Herald Square,” “Lullaby,” “Plural of Blue,” “Soca,” and “Unsubscribe,” among others. The live orchestra will feature Kaoru Hinata on flute and piccolo, David Valbuena on clarinet and bass clarinet, John Lake on trumpet on flugelhorn, Nicole Brancato, Jai Jeffryes on piano, Max Maples on percussion, Oren Fader on guitar, Lynn Bechtold, Hajnal Pivnick on violin, Hannah Levinson on viola, Christine Kim, Jisoo Ok on cello, Lisa Maree Dowling on bass, and Charles Coleman as conductor.

Born and raised in Manhattan, Cooper was educated at Columbia and Princeton universities, as well as the Conservatoire de Nice and Fontainebleau. The recipient of many awards, accolades, and commissions, he has also performed in many of the world’s top concert halls.
