Memorial Service for Professor Melinda Gist Lorenz
December 7 at 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
A memorial service for Adjunct Instructor Melinda Gist Lorenz will be held from noon to 1 pm Thursday, December 7, in the Katie Murphy Amphitheatre, for students, faculty, staff, and family members to pay tribute to her. Lorenz, a longtime Adjunct Instructor in the Department of International Trade and Marketing (ITM), died on October 16.
Lorenz was an active member of the college and her community. She pioneered mentoring the students in the early stages of ITM’s U.S. Ambassadors of Cotton competition, which provided the impetus for significant annual scholarship funding from Cotton Incorporated. She also authored ITM’s Career Guide and created several videos of alumni and students who completed the Office of International Program’s semester abroad in China.
In addition, Lorenz was an eloquent orator, frequently guest speaking in classes while also participating as a panelist in the Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology’s collaboration with the Retailing Program of the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania several years ago.
