Carl Rutberg, American History, lectured at Ocean University in Qingdao, China, this summer. He discussed American history, culture, and fashion with the students. The university has a mission to prepare students to successfully apply to schools in Europe—primarily England—and the United States. Oxford and Cambridge are the first choices of many, and last year 30 students were accepted to those schools. When it comes to fashion, however, Rutberg found that FIT is the top choice, and students were interested in learning how to apply.
He says it was an honor to meet the students, teachers, and parents, and that it was interesting to learn that much of what we discuss in our classrooms is also being discussed in Qingdao.
