Associate Professor Hilary Davidson, chair of Fashion and Textile Studies, appeared in episode two of PBS’s three-part NOVA series “Building Stuff.” In a segment about a textile research lab where engineers are prototyping safer fire-fighting suits designed specifically for women’s bodies, Davidson said, “The fabric on its own is not going to save you. It can be the most-engineered, up-to-date, advanced composite fabric, but how it’s put together, how it’s worked around the body, the fit … that is going to make it a really effective technology.”
