Dramatic Readings: Facing the Rising Sun … Until Victory Is Won
February 28 at 5:15 pm - 6:15 pm
The Office of Educational Opportunity Programs, in collaboration with the 1863, 1963 Committee. Will present era-based dramatic readings pulled from published works by African Americans and their allies that address the African American experience of resistance. The readings will be centered around the eras of:
- Pre-colonized Africa
- The introduction and execution of the transatlantic slave trade
- Emancipation and Reconstruction
- Civil rights and Black power movements
- Present era of social justice movements
The presenters will join together and invite members of the audience to join them in the recitation of the Black national anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
