Exhibition: Expressions of Civility — Opens
November 14, 2018
In recognition of FIT’s commitment to creating a civil, inclusive campus for all, the annual faculty and staff exhibition will include student work for the first time.
The exhibition will explore: What does it mean to be civil in a world that is increasingly not? In an era where personal attacks and inflammatory positions have superseded dialogue and debate, how do we seek to understand that which separates us and builds connections that increase empathy, inclusivity, knowledge and community strength? Civility—and the ability to reconcile our differences for the greater good—is at the very root of a democratic society. It spurs forward movement, it moves us past our points of conflict, it is what fuels progress. Ultimately, it’s the only thing that ever has.
Artwork will be on view in the following locations:
Lynn and Carl Goldstein Gallery, Feldman Center, Ninth Floor (faculty/staff work): November 14, 2018–October 2019
Gladys Marcus Library, Fifth and Sixth floors (student work): November 19, 2018–March 31, 2019
Gallery FIT, The Museum at FIT (students/faculty/staff): November 19, 2018–January 26, 2019
