Exhibition: Crafting Evolution: 10 Years of Fashion Study — Closes

September 11, 2019

From Jahnkoy's Men's Spring 2019 runway show.

August 15–September 11

Born and raised in Siberia, Russia, Jahnkoy is a New York–based visual artist whose work draws upon found materials and ready-made clothing to illustrate her ideas around consumerism, racial and cultural inequality, crafts, and the political and economic restraints that surround it. She sees fashion as a powerful force to raise questions about the sustainability of the actual fashion system and seeks to bring awareness and raise consciousness among consumers about alternative, more via modes of production, distribution, and consumption.

Jahnkoy’s hand-embellished Puma gear got her shortlisted for a 2017 LVMH Prize, and now the artist has teamed up with the athletic wear brand for another collaboration, now on view in the Art and Design Gallery.

This exhibition is free and open to the public.
