Exhibition: Under the Umbrella — Opens
March 21, 2022
March 21–April 11
Art and Design Gallery
Main Gallery and Back Gallery
Under the Umbrella is a curriculum-based project created by professors Anne Kong’s and Glenn Sokoli’s Visual Presentation and Exhibition Design students in which umbrellas have been used to highlight a sustainable solution that eliminates tons of umbrellas from reaching landfills each year. The exhibition calls for action that focuses on reuse, recycling, and lifestyles that support sustainability. Working in collaboration with Rentbrella, an umbrella sharing company, the students’ display uses 400 umbrellas.
This exhibition will be on view during the FIT’s Sustainability Conference and the students will participate in a Virtual Artist Talk as a conference program.
About the Art and Design Gallery
The Art and Design Gallery brings together the work of FIT students, faculty, alumni, and invited outside artists in every exhibition. The gallery, located in the glass-walled lobby of FIT’s Pomerantz Center, is a window into the college and a window out, serving as a space to foster learning and innovation.
The gallery is open from 9 am to 6 pm daily.
This exhibition is free and open to the public.
