Fashion Culture: All That Glitters … Conservation and Sustainability of Fashion Collections
March 12 at 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

In connection to the exhibition All That Glitters … , The Museum at FIT and the master’s-level Fashion and Textile Studies: History, Theory, Museum Practice program host a panel discussion on the conservation of dress collections, exploring how the development of new fashion materials and industry technology affects deterioration. The sustainability of fashion is considered from the stage of initial production to long-term care in a museum. The panel includes MFIT conservators Alison Castaneda and Callie O’Connor, and graduate conservation student Katherine Shark.
Fashion Culture programs are organized by The Museum at FIT to provide new perspectives on the culture of fashion. All programs are free unless otherwise indicated. However, reservations are strongly encouraged, as space is limited. See a full calendar of spring 2025 Fashion Culture Program events on the museum website.
