Circe Henestrosa is the head of the School of Fashion at LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore. She will discuss the way exhibition spaces can create new visual languages capable of breaking boundaries of visibility and invisibility traditionally associated with disabled bodies. In her conversation with Tanya Melendez, senior curator of education and public programs at The Museum at FIT, they will question the divide that exists between the Us and Them, and what we assume to be the able-minded, the able-bodied, and the disabled. At the Frida Kahlo Museum in Mexico, Henestrosa curated the exhibition Appearances Can Be Deceiving: The Dresses of Frida Kahlo, and cocurated the blockbuster exhibition Frida Kahlo Making Her Self Up at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
