Film Screening and Discussion: “The Hate U Give”

FIT presents a screening of The Hate U Give, directed by George Tillman Jr., based on the best-selling book by Angie Thomas. Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Now, facing pressure from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what’s right.
After the film, the Diversity Council will host a panel discussion with poet-turned-rapper Bobby Sessions, whose music appears in the film, among others.
