This year’s Fashion and Textile Studies MA exhibition, The Traphagen School: Fostering American Fashion, explores the legacy of one of the first institutions devoted to educating fashion industry professionals in New York City. This exhibition, the first dedicated to the school, will focus on the Traphagen methods of design-by-adaptation and experimentation, both of which are still used in design education and the fashion industry today.

In conjunction with the exhibition, we will be hosting a panel discussion on March 21, 2019, to highlight the design processes utilized by contemporary fashion designers and illustrators, with special consideration of historical and cultural influences and experimental materials/methods. The panel will feature archivists Jessica Barber and Becca Love as well as designer Kritika Manchanda.

This event is free and open to the public; click here to register.
