Home Products Development Senior Trend Report Presentations
December 6, 2016 at 6:30 pm - 7:45 pm
The Home Products Development Department’s seniors are challenged to analyze a current trend in the home products and furnishings marketplace. Six teams present their trend reports in a six-minute multimedia presentation exploring three timelines: past, present, and future, determining the historical and cyclical nature of the trend, identifying its root within the past 20 to 30 years and predicting its cycle in the next 20 to 30 years.
Each student group will identify its trend through references in art, architecture, fashion, technology, and pop culture. Students have access to all major trend reporting services through the library.
Students have been critiqued by industry professionals throughout the process to strengthen and sharpen the projects and presentations. Home Products Development major is unique in the U.S. combining both hard goods and textile classifications. Students analyze and explore the development, design, sourcing, manufacturing, packaging, marketing, and merchandising of products for the home. It has been called a training program for the industry with 100 percent job placement for graduates.
