Student Open Mic: What Is Feminism Now? Art and Activism

October 26, 2017 at 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

This student-focused event will bring together students from across campus to respond to the question, What is feminism now? This event will create new space for the sharing of ideas and mutual respect on campus about the historic roots of feminism and what relevance this has today for our student body as active members of their communities and creative thinkers.

Students will have the opportunity to share their own answers to the question in an open-mic co-hosted by student group Half the Sky. This project will allow students, faculty, and staff to engage in dialogue concerning the overlap of art and activism in relation to the complicated historical roots of the term feminism and the various ways it is currently employed in the public sphere.

A reception will follow directly after the event.
