Asian Artists at the Crossroads: Xin Song

Chinese contemporary artist Xin Song will visit campus to talk about interpretation of her cut-paper installations. As an artist-in-residence at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, Song will also talk to students about how to apply for residency programs and artist grants. The series is sponsored by the FIT Diversity Council, School of Liberal Arts, and Department of History of Art.

Scents and Sensibilities: A Workshop on Fragrance in Poetry with Moira Egan
This hands- and nose-on workshop will explore techniques that can be used to conjure the intensely evocative (yet vastly underrepresented) sense of smell. The most ephemeral of the senses, scent is, paradoxically, the one that is most intimately linked to memory, bypassing conscious thought to hit straight at the centers of memory, inducing poignant nostalgia and fierce flashbacks.
