Art Market Studies Symposium: What Does It Mean to Make Art in 2022?
May 4, 2022 at 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The Art Market Studies graduate program class of 2022 presents an afternoon of performance and discourse in response to the leading question, what does it mean to make art in 2022? Being a young emerging artist in New York presents an absurd myriad of opportunities and challenges, fueled by the creative but competitive nature of the city, along with drastic changes brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As we enter the second half of 2022, we remember the victims of anti-Asian hate crimes and commemorate the lives lost. In light of May as AAPI Heritage Month, we have invited a select group of emerging Asian artists based in NYC to celebrate their talents and share their experiences. It is our hope that we can uplift our community by raising awareness as young art world professionals.
