Critical Thinking, Information Literacy, and Civic Discourse: SUNY Core Competencies in the FIT Classroom
January 24 at 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Join us for a discussion on the SUNY general education core competencies, featuring Dr. Tom Mackey, professor of Arts and Media at SUNY Empire. AI and social media have had an impact on the flow and accuracy of information, making it more important than ever to prepare students to be analytical and responsible contributors to important academic and social conversations. This mini retreat explores how faculty across the college can help our students meet the learning outcomes for these competencies with professional and societal challenges in mind.
The mini retreat will also feature FIT colleagues who specialize in curriculum development, information literacy, civic discourse, and critical thinking; provide an overview of how we manage Gen Ed competencies at FIT; and foster conversation on how to enrich courses with these core competencies.
Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
This event is for the FIT community only; REGISTER HERE.
