Exhibition: The Future Is Immersive — Closes
May 2, 2019
March 15–April 26 (extended to May 2)
This immersive exhibition at FIT will show how artistic virtual reality can change how patients react to treatment. FIT artists and technicians, using Google Tilt Brush, have created artwork, which will be on view, in a “fourth dimension.” VR and art impact the patient experience during treatment and beyond.
Artist Tom Christopher‘s entire studio where the VR paintings were created, with the help of FIT students, will be recreated at FIT for a complete immersive experience. A visitor will also be able to put on a VR headset and be transported to a brave new world of artistic virtual reality that begins with a pencil and ends up calming and distracting patients, relieving the sensation of pain and is sometimes a tool for healing completely.
The Art and Design Gallery brings together the work of FIT students, faculty, alumni, and invited outside artists in every exhibition. The gallery, located in the glass-walled lobby of FIT’s Pomerantz Center, is a window into the college and a window out, serving as a space to foster learning and innovation.
