Hue Live Online Event: Creative Life During Lockdown: Sam Kalda
October 26, 2020 at 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
For its first digital-only issue, Hue magazine ran a story written and illustrated by Sam Kalda ‘14 about creative life during lockdown.
FIT will be talking with Kalda about the joys and struggles of making a living as an artist, how to find inspiration in stressful times, and details of his creative process. We should have time for some questions from the audience as well.
Illustrator Sam Kalda, based in St. Paul, won a gold medal in book illustration from the Society of Illustrators in 2017. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Buzzfeed, The Boston Globe, Wired, and many other publications. His illustrated books include When Darwin Sailed the Sea (2020, Wide Eyed Press) and When We Walked on the Moon (2019, Wide Eyed Press), written by David Long, as well as Of Cats and Men: History’s Great Cat-loving Artists, Writers, Thinkers and Statesmen (2017, Ten Speed Press).
