April 25, 2023 at 12:30 pm - 2:15 pm
This workshop luncheon brings FIT scholars, educators, and administrators together to consider issues related to forced and voluntary displacement, and how they relate to questions of thinking, teaching, and shaping our community. Assistant Dean Helen Gaudette (Office of International Programs) and Director Marie Mekari (International Student Services) will present an overview of our displaced student population, the services available on campus, and ideas for future initiatives. Professors Nurhayat Bilge (English and Communication Studies), Subhalakshmi Gooptu (English and Communication Studies), and Erica Moretti (Modern Languages and Cultures) will showcase examples of teaching about refugee issues, teaching and supporting refugees as students, and learning from refugees as teachers and FIT community members.
This event is supported by a Mellon/ACLS Community College Faculty Fellowship Grant.
Workshop location on campus will be shared with those who register.
This event is for FIT faculty and staff only; space is limited, RSVP IS REQUIRED.
