Remembering Ruth: A Tribute to the Life of Ruth Finley

A memorial service for Ruth Finley, creator of the Fashion Calendar and recipient of the FIT President’s Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2016, will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 3 pm, in the Haft Theater, and will be followed by a reception in the John E. Reeves Great Hall. Finley died August 25, 2018, at the age of 98.
The memorial will celebrate Finley’s accomplishments and her commitment to her family and friends, to the fashion industry, and to her various charitable causes.
A scholarship fund established in Finley’s name at the High School of Fashion Industries is accepting donations. Finley was very involved at the high school as part of her mission to help young people enter the fashion industry. If you wish to donate, please make a check out to HSFI Advisory Board, and write “Ruth Finley Scholarship Fund” in the memo line. A collection of Finley’s Fashion Calendars will be on display outside the Special Collections and College Archives in the Gladys Marcus Library to coincide with the memorial.
The memorial service is open to the public.
