Social Media, Digital Aggregation, and Creating Communities: The Case of Repeating Islands

Dr. Ivette Romero, director of the Latin American and Caribbean Studies program at Marist College and co-editor of the Repeating Islands blog—a site for news and commentary on Caribbean literature and culture—will discuss the blog, social media, and creating communities. Romero is also professor of Spanish and chair of the department of Modern Languages and Cultures at Marist. Her research interests center on comparative Caribbean studies (literature, visual arts, cinema, and gender) and the preservation of national identity in marginal communities in Puerto Rico and the diaspora.
