In this virtual World Affairs Lecture, documentary photographer Christina Simons will be In conversation with Dr. Souzeina Mushtaq, assistant professor of Communication and Media Studies at
University of Wisconsin–River Falls, on the topic of “Displacement and Belonging: Running to Nowhere, A Story of Central America.”

Christina Simons is an award-winning international documentary photographer focused on humanitarian issues and cultural diversity. Her work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, the BBC Online, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, The Guardian UK, and many more. Simons has also collaborated with several humanitarian organizations such as Medicines Sans Frontiers (MSF), the U.N., Marie Stopes, and UNICEF.

The Department of Social Sciences’ World Affairs Lecture Series fulfills FIT’s mission to foster an understanding of diverse cultures and politics within the international as well as domestic perspectives. It also embraces, supports, and expands upon the president’s campuswide initiative on civility.
