Katie Murphy Amphitheatre and John E. Reeves Great Hall

The three-day event, presented by Designers & Books and the FIT School of Art and Design, features more than 70 book publishers, book signings, and programs related to a variety of design disciplines: architecture, experience design, fashion, graphic design, interior design, landscape architecture, product and industrial design, and urban design. There will also be notable rare and out-of-print book dealers and established and indie magazines.

On Saturday and Sunday, in the auditorium adjacent to the exhibition hall, there will be programs featuring esteemed members of the design community. Topics will range from reflections on the careers of master designers to discussions of favorite books in personal libraries, to new design trends in the world of indie magazines to the increasing importance of Kickstarter as a way to launch design books. Speakers include Milton Glaser, Valerie Steele, Steven Heller, Louise Fili, and Wendy Goodman.

Attendees will be eligible for prizes, including private tours of the Yale Center for British Art, the Louis Armstrong House Museum, a Manhattan mural crawl, lunch with André Leon Talley, lunch at Pentagram, and a studio tour.

A portion of the proceeds from the fair will benefit FIT’s Gladys Marcus Library.

Admission to the fair is free, and it is open to the public; to ensure a seat for the speaker events, the cost is $10. To reserve a seat, and for more information, visit designbookfair.com.
