Timed for holiday shopping, members of the FIT community, as well as the public, will experience the retro charm of old-school, holiday-themed tattoo imagery as they browse in Season’s Greet-Inks. The shop will sell designer and vintage clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and gift items at thrift store prices from designers such as Christian Lacroix, Chloé, Gucci, YSL, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Marc Jacobs, Valentino, and Louis Vuitton. All stock will be refreshed as items are sold so that shoppers making repeat visits can discover new finds.
Every aspect of the shop has been student-designed, from the vintage tattoo-themed decor to the window displays, music, hang tags, shopping bags, and even temporary tattoos (to be sold for $1). The environment will evoke a “fantasy forest” feeling, with woodland creatures (and retro-style pinup girls) welcoming visitors. Front window decals will feature stylized arms holding shopping bags, while a vast array of holiday elements —in hot, bright colors — will adorn the space.
This year’s pop-up shop theme, chosen by The Society Boutique team from 12 proposals, was selected for its creativity and originality. “It’s modern and edgy, but warm and welcoming,” said VPED student Meghan Finocchio. “It’s still like holiday, but refreshing. It’s a new spin.”
The shop will be open to the public in the Pomerantz Center lobby from December 10 through 13. Shop hours are 11 am to 8 pm, December 10 through 12, and 11 am to 7:30 pm on December 13. Students from the Merchandising Society, FIT’s largest student club, which also operates the successful on-campus boutique the Style Shop, will provide sales assistance.
