FIT will hold its 2015 commencement exercises for all associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degree candidates.
Actor, author, and entrepreneur Brooke Shields will address the schools of Art and Design and Graduate Studies at the morning ceremony which begins at 10:30 am. Marc Metrick, president of Saks Fifth Avenue, will speak to the schools of Business and Technology and Liberal Arts at 3 pm.
Architect Daniel Libeskind will receive an honorary degree at the morning ceremony, and bridal stylist, TV personality, and FIT alumnus Randy Fenoli ’93 will receive the President’s Award for Creative Excellence.
At the afternoon ceremony, trustee emeritus Pete Scotese will receive the President’s Award for Lifetime Achievement, and Ralph Lauren Corporation Group President for Wholesale and Retail for the Americas, FIT Foundation Director, and FIT alumna Joy Herfel Cronin ’89 will receive the President’s Award for Creative Excellence.
Brooke Shields is a multitasking model, actress, best-selling author, brand ambassador for popular consumer products and a women’s advocate who has been in the limelight since she was a toddler. Most recently, she launched two lines of makeup in collaboration with MAC Cosmetics that are being sold internationally.
Marc Metrick spent the first 15 years of his career at Saks Fifth Avenue, rising from its executive training program to the position of chief strategy officer. He then joined the leadership team at Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) and played an instrumental role in HBC’s acquisition of Saks and is, today, the legendary store’s president.
