MFA Students Team Up With High Schoolers to Create and Educate

MFA-Illustration-workshop

On Saturday, June 13, the nine members of the 2015 graduating class in FIT’s Illustration MFA program led a full-day multimedia workshop for students from the High School of Art and Design. Held at—and in conjunction with—the Society of Illustrators, the workshop was an opportunity for the high school students to create a three-dimensional work using a variety of mediums and themes by visiting a series of “stations” focusing on different aspects of illustration. The workshop tied into the mediums used throughout the exhibition Exit Lines, in which the MFA graduates’ work is on view at Gallery FIT through July 3. The day was also intended to educate the younger students about illustration and the process that illustrators use to execute images from narrative. See some highlights of the day here.
