FIT and President Brown Featured in WWD

On Friday, June 19, WWD ran a front-page piece on FIT in its Digital Daily, featuring an in-depth interview with President Joyce F. Brown. Dr. Brown, who became FIT’s sixth president in 1998, discussed FIT’s future, its strategic plan, and its goals as the school celebrates its 70th anniversary and looks toward its 75th.

The article describes FIT’s ambitious five-year plan that includes a new building, an innovation center, and closer ties to apparel companies.

Dr. Brown noted that the strategic planning processes have been implemented in a way that has engaged a cross-section of the campus community, with groups finding different ways that they could “contribute to the dialogue.”
