Women and Technology Symposium

Wiki ton-1

Thursday, March 3, 1-2 pm: reception; 2:15-4:30 pm: presentation
Katie Murphy Amphitheatre

The Women and Technology Symposium and the Wikipedia Edit-a-thon are designed to empower female students to engage with technology through talks by successful female engineers and technologists and using a hands-on activity that affirms their abilities and encourages them to become part of the conversation.

Guest speakers at the symposium are: Grace Choi, founder and CEO of Mink, the first printable makeup system; Krystal Persaud, industrial designer and director of product design at littleBits, an award-winning platform of electronic building blocks for creating inventions, large and small; and Madison Maxey, creative technologist, co-founder and president of The Crated, and 2013 Thiel Fellow.

The Women and Technology Symposium is open to all FIT students, staff, and faculty; women, women-identified, gender neutral, and male allies are welcome to attend. Snacks and refreshments will be provided to participants. No registration is necessary, however, RSVP here so that organizers can gauge attendance.

This event is made possible through a President’s Diversity Fund Grant, with special thanks to the Information Technology Department and the members of the Love Your Library planning committee of the Gladys Marcus Library.
