Theanne Schiros’s Research Is the Cover Story of Nature Physics

Theanne Schiros, Science and Mathematics, has published research in an article titled “Imaging Chiral Symmetry Breaking From Kekulé Bond Order in Graphene” in the journal Nature Physics, where it was chosen as the cover story for the issue. The research demonstrates that breaking of chiral symmetry by ghost atoms in graphene, a single layer of carbon atoms with massless charge carriers, could provide a means of making the 2D semi-metal semiconducting at room temperature.
