Aleksandr Nazarov has been appointed coordinator of Student Contests and Industry-Sponsored Projects, a newly created position that reports to the Division of Academic Affairs. Previously, management of contests was overseen by Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Ronald Milon until his promotion to chief diversity officer.

As coordinator, Nazarov is the liaison between the college and outside organizations that seek to sponsor student contests and projects. He keeps the community informed about rules and procedures pertaining to contests and projects, and ensures that rules are followed. The coordinator is also a resource for faculty interested in creating contest opportunities for students, and maintains a database of open or perennial contests and projects.

Previously, Nazarov held positions in the Office of the President and in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Also, revealing his knack for managing competitors, he was head coach of a Hunter College High School fencing team that brought home gold medals from the New York City-wide Public Schools Athletic League Championships.
