Alumna Jennifer Tan recently served as one of the judges/mentors on The Toy Box, an ABC network competition reality series in which amateur inventors competed to have their toys brought to the marketplace. Tan graduated in 2007 with a degree in Toy Design and now serves as the Creative Director of Consumer Products at Pixar Animation Studios.
On The Toy Box, each toy first passed muster with the mentors before moving on to a panel of real children. In the end, the children chose 3D Liquid Art, now known as Artsplash, as the winning design. Currently being manufactured by Mattel and sold by Toys “R” Us, this toy uses colorful water to create three-dimensional paintings.
Tan was a mentor alongside toy expert Jim Silver and Dylan Lauren, founder of Dylan’s Candy Bar. The show is hosted by Eric Stonestreet, actor on the popular TV series Modern Family.
