Call for Membership on the Sustainability Council

The President’s Sustainability Council is currently seeking new faculty and/or staff members for three-year terms beginning in both fall 2017 and spring 2018. Interested candidates should send a letter of interest, along with a curriculum vitae or resume via email to the co-chairs of the council: Suzanne McGillicuddy and Karen Pearson at [email protected] by October 6, 2017.

In your letter of interest, please include any background or credentials pertaining to sustainability and a few ideas for council activities and campus initiatives in this area.

Please note that you will need to be available for council meetings on Wednesdays at noon to 1 pm every other week during each semester.

Additionally, we will look to all council members to be engaged members and take initiative on a variety of council projects. New members will be asked to actively participate in existing programs as well as propose new projects.

Since 2009 the Sustainability Council has been working toward making FIT a more sustainable educational institution in its operations and curriculum. The council fosters new initiatives, makes recommendations for and promotes policies, projects, and programs that further FIT’s commitment to all environmental, economic, and social aspects of sustainability. The council administers the $15,000 Annual Sustainability Grants Program, coordinates the Annual Sustainable Business and Design Conference, and sponsors other campus-wide events including Sustainability Awareness Week (SAW).
