Just in time for Canadian Thanksgiving on October 9, FIT’s Office of International Student Services and the Office of International Programs hosted an event with Canadian social media superstars (and alumni), the Beckerman Twins. Last year, The New York Times called Cailli, Fashion Design cum laude ’04 and Sam, Accessories Design summa cum laude ’04, “human glitter.” They came to discuss—with Alex Joseph, managing editor of FIT’s Hue magazine—the undefinable nature of their work with brands including Chanel, H&M, Versace, and Moschino designer Jeremy Scott.
They chatted. They posed. They even made social media content right from the stage.
Watch their discussion below to see the twins talk about collaborating with Karl Lagerfeld–including dressing up their dog as “Karl LagerWOOF”– and what they learned at FIT that was useful to them as the social media phenom that they are.
