NFLxFIT website, designed and developed by Cynda Media Lab’s C.J. Yeh and Christie Shin, both Communication Design, has been honored with 12th Annual W3 Silver Awards in three categories: Art, Education, and Sports. The W3 Awards is sanctioned and judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from media, advertising, and marketing firms. The W3 Awards honors creative excellence on the web, and recognizes the creative and marketing professionals behind award-winning websites, web videos, and online marketing programs. This year’s competition received over 5,000 submissions and winners including major brands and agencies such as AccuWeather, Indivirtual Dubai, M&C Saatchi, WSJ, and WWE.
NFLxFIT was a design competition that took place earlier this year in which the National Football League challenged 25 students who were minoring in Creative Technology—for which Yeh and Shin are coordinators—to reimagine the 32 NFL team identities, including artwork and graphics inspired by the teams’ logos and fan cultures. The new graphic elements and branding treatments (Team Quicksnap’s designs were chosen) will be used on NFL merchandise this coming season.
