Artwork by William Low Unveiled at Deer Park LIRR Station

translucent panels featuring dahlias by William Low's

William Low, Illustration, was commissioned by the MTA’s Long Island Rail Road to create artwork to enhance the railroad station at Deer Park. The work, a floor-to-ceiling triptych in the station’s waiting room, features bright red dahlias, a reference to the local area’s botanic legacy; Deer Park provided ornamental trees and shrubs for the original Central Park, and the town is well known for its annual dahlia festivals. Several wholesale nurseries are located near the station.Low has created work for transit stations in the past. He was selected for a revitalization project on the 6 train subway line’s Parkchester Station in the Bronx in 2008. A description of the creation of the stained glass windows created from his illustrations can be found on his site at williamlow.com/gallery/art-for-public-works.
