Knitting for Civility

A student tries on a hat she knitted.

As part of their community service requirement, the FIT student chapter of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) hand-knitted hats to raise awareness about school bullying. Lion Brand Yarns provided the patterns and blue yarn, the chosen color of the anti-bullying movement. The hats will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital this holiday season. Next semester, AATCC club advisor and Textile Development and Marketing Associate Professor Sean Cormier will guide the students in machine-knitting more hats, also for charity.
