A book by Yuniya (Yuni) Kawamura, Sociology, The Japanese Revolution in Paris Fashion (Bloomsbury 2004) was recently translated into Chinese and published by Chongqing University Press of China. The book describes how a number of influential Japanese designers have broken into and made an impact on the highly structured and tightly controlled Parisian fashion world. Kawamura shows how traditional French fashion has been both disturbed and strengthened by the addition of outside forces such as Kenzo Takada, Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto, Rei Kawakubo and Hanae Mori.
