Paul Clement, chair, Social Sciences, has been selected as a NYSUT Higher Education Member of the Year. This award is presented annually to a member who best represents higher education professionals statewide, promotes a positive image of the union professional, and personifies the principles of the American labor movement. Clement is treasurer of the United College Employees of FIT.

NYSUT, New York State United Teachers, has more than 600,000 members who work in, or are retired from, New York’s schools, colleges, and health care facilities. It is a federation of more than 1,200 local unions, each representing its own members, and is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and the National Education Association (NEA). It is also part of organized labor—the AFL-CIO—and of Education International, with more than 20 million members worldwide.

The award will be presented in Albany at the 47th Annual Representative Assembly in May at the Albany Capital Center.
