Christie Shin and C.J. Yeh Present Inclusive Design Teaching Methods at Conference

C.J. Yeh and Christie Shin, Communication Design Pathways, presented at the 11th E-Learning and Innovative Pedagogy Conference in Hobart, Australia. Through a multimedia presentation titled “The Future Is Inclusive,” Yeh and Shin introduced the theoretical framework and methodologies of teaching inclusive design in FIT’s Creative Technology and Design courses. Examples of concrete learning outcomes were demonstrated through case studies of student projects, assignments, and in-class exercises. The challenges and opportunities of teaching inclusive design in college-level design courses were also be discussed.

The e-Learning and Innovative Pedagogies annual conference provides a forum for educators from around the world to share ideas and stimulate peer-to-peer learning. Past speakers of this conference included educators and industry leaders such as Professor Chris Dede, Harvard University; James C. Spohrer, director of Cognitive OpenTech at IBM; and Professor Caroline Haythornthwaite, Syracuse University.
